Participating in seasonal events is one way to roll up your sleeves and get to work during the fall and winter months. Your local community probably has events taking place including football tailgates at the local high school or college, Halloween fun houses, Thanksgiving food pantry drives, and December holiday gatherings.

You might be able to pitch in on a part-time basis at any number of these events helping with preparation, serving, or clean up. A call to your community’s chamber of commerce office will help pinpoint opportunities. The grocery stores in your area may also be participating in a number of ways throughout fall and winter, so these are good resources to tap for information and possibly a weekend job or two as helper.
